Aims For My EPQ Project

 My Aims and Objectives for my EPQ project on car advertising are as follows;

  1. To gain a further understanding of advertising techniques and evaluate their effectives in the current era where information is just a click away online.
  2. To further improve my editing skills by creating a video as part of my final dissertation.
  3. Improve my researching skills and learn more about evaluating sources
  4. Gain a further understanding of car advertising specifically one's involving sports and rally cars as it will help me when it comes to my filmmaking course at university

Textual Analysis 2: Peugeot 2008 - See The City In a Different Light (2013)

 The advert opens on a gecko on the road amongst regular city markings before panning up as the 2008 passes to reveal the road is actually in the middle of the desert rather than a cityscape. As the car drives along were are shown things that would happen in a city only with a desert twists; there's some old ladies feeding birds (vultures), people emerging from the subway (a cave), people crossing the road ( with someone walking a Fennec Fox in place of a dog), a pair of window washers ( washing a rock tower), a man blowing sand onto the road ( or off it's genuinely hard to tell what he's meant to be doing its just a way of shoehorning in the car can drive on sand) , and a guy using a cactus as a bike stand. Textual Analysis 3 : Morris Mini Minor (1959)

The advert opens with a stop motion animated sequence where a model version of the Mini drives down the village street before  parking outside flashing the lights and sounding the horn to alert their family that they have bought the new car. The opening being shot in stop motion with a model version markets the mini as the playful family car leaning into it's small size (considered miniature compared to the family cars at the time. The playful nature is also added to through the use of upbeat music that sounds like it's from a kids tv show. The advert then transitions to live action where we see the Mini driving along country roads before showing the cars engine and how its mounted horizontally to allow for more space in the cab of the car so 4 people can "comfortably" sit in the car and still carry loads of luggage. Textual Analysis 1: Ford Puma - Space Reinvented (2020)

 Advert opens with people playing basketball in a rather claustrophobic blue court. The Camera is very active panning around the players before shooting upwards looking down ( Judging by the movements this is using an FPV drone). When the drone shoots up it reveals the court to be in an alleyway. The court being in  an alley and opening the video links with the title of the advert " Space Reinvented". This can be seen as linking to two things, number one is this is the reinvention of the Ford Puma, a sports compact discontinued in 2001, the new Puma is a crossover rather than a sport compact like the old version. The second link is to the change to the boot-space with the new Puma with it having a lot of storage space for a boot its' size.  The entire advert is centred around marketing the storage capacity of the puma with Ford using the space in between the powertrain as storage space rather than leaving it empty.
